Urban Heroes Declare Peace to a War!
Skopje 01 October 2001

URBAN
HEROES organized by the Performing Arts Center - Multimedia on
01.10.2001 have shown their opinion and points of view towards
the actual situationin Macedonia through an urban action entitled
as "URBAN HEROES
ARE DECLARING A PEACE TO THE WAR !"
with its slogan "Preku takvoto
! (Up to my
!)".
This initiative is continuation of the action that PAC Multimedia
has started before in cooperation with artists, musicians and
all other urban heroes.
This action has gathered all of those who wanted to show their
standpoints towards the situation in the country. Urban Heroes
were expressing themselves on the only way that they are familiar
with and the only way through which they can oppose all of the
violence in the world - trough their creative works - messages,
music, art pieces, films
. Urban Heroes through their art
sent the message: URBAN HEROES
ARE DECLARING A PEACE TO
THE WAR !
They want their peace back and they want back their free space
where they can create, walk, love, have fun
Peace that will bring them freedom of thinking and expression.
Nothing more and nothing less. They want to live here and now.
In this action PAC MULTIMEDIA was the mediator of the statements
and attitudes of the Urban Heroes and has present them into different
media.
Action started as caravan of the Urban Heroes and finished as
a multimedia happening.
Whole action had concomitant activities as messages and designs
sent on the electronic mail that was published as a booklet within
the music CD. On the CD 20 urban music bands have sent their message
through their music. Also other materials were published and were
hand out in the public with the purpose for greater scope of the
messages for peace. Those materials were posters, leaflets, T-shirts,
short pants, video clip.
Electronic and print media were very interested in the coverage
of the event. Some of the media gave exclusivity to the event
and they have put the information for the event as one of the
most interesting news and actions that the young people have organized.
Caravan has started on the 01.10.2001 in 15.30 at front of the
"Vero" in Aerodrom, suburb in Skopje. A truck of the
caravan was prepared in a recognizable design of the action which
symbol was the flower. On the truck were DJ's (DJ Pikisipi, DJ
Paranoid, DJ Passenger), jongleurs (Fuss bubble group), accompanied
with the bikers, hikers, skaters, roller bladders
all those
Urban Heroes that are the part of the Urban Culture of the town
of Skopje.

Caravan was circling around the town's recognizable points New
Railway station-Red Cross- State Council - Clement and Ohrid church
-Government -City Park Fountain- ZOO and through Ruzveltova street
to the Center municipality where the multimedia happening has
continued.
It's very important to be mentioned that the urban heroes wanted
to show their message through the dance and music as an opponent
to the violence actions that are everyday events. Urban Heroes
have shown that they do not want to destruct but to construct
the free surrounding where they can create music, art works, through
fun in the civilized sophisticated urban manor.

At front of the Center Municipality multimedia happening (community
art actions) was accompanied with the rock concert of the Macedonian
bands as TK - Sk, Smut, United, Two Sides, Fluks, Kulturno Umetnicki
Rabotnici, Opstrukcija...
Artists involved into the community art action (art installations,
performances and graffiti) were Mirna Arsovska, Boris Petrovski,
Natasa Dimitrievska, Kristina Miljanovska and Emil Petrov. There
was no selection for their works; it was open to everyone that
wants to exhibit and to give their urban message to the others
and make a creative sign in their town.
Action has finished in 24.00 as it was planned but Urban Heroes
are still here around waiting to contribute with their creations
again and to develop urban scene. They are ready always to give
their statements and contributions in the creation of the free
and better urban culture environment and surrounding.
