Video programme that will be presented on the festival:

"Fast-Iman" (2003), Bengisu Bayrak, 15''
Bengisu Bayrak’s video installation "Fast-Iman" (2003) questions the  relevance of religious messages for contemporary life. On another  level, it also documents the consequences of neo-liberal economy on  our way of life. The video documents a strategy developed by a mosque   in Istanbul by running lines from the Quaran on a digital display  screen above the entrance of the mosque. Bayrak chooses an  alternative way to give info about the work; instead of using a  descriptive text, she uses a documentary video, which is displayed  via a small monitor.

"Hairdresser" (2004), Basak Kaptan, 2''26'
Basak Kaptan's video draws the viewer in a realm where a story is  told through a set of still photographs, yet accompanied with a  soundtrack in which the time flows in some strangeway, while giving  the sense of being there. Have we been there, really?

"Information Overbloated" (2005), Erhan Muratoglu, 3''
“I/O Information Overbloated” exposes the bottleneck condition in  which new digital data try to flow through the television screen. The  struggle between the narrated news and visual data feed creates  bizarre conditions and undefined zones for the viewer/data receiver.  The conventional TV screen is encapsulated by the new data forcing to  find a way to flow.

"Stay/Put" (2004), Erhan Muratoglu, 1''
Rahat/Dur (Stay/Put) aims to pull the viewer into an illusory moment,  where sudden switching to interactive computer interface interrupts  the passive activity of watching video. Two stylized human  silhouettes fight with each other in kung fu, wherein a dynamic  electronic beat builds up audible flow. The representation of a  choreographed fight runs in accordance with the soundtrack until  interference occurs: a mouse cursor enters the scene without warning,  breaking the flow both in video and audio...

Nigar” (2006), Erhan Muratoglu, 15''
This video work contains a casual talk with 94 years old woman, who  had migrated from Bulgaria to Turkey when she was young. Her personal  collection of photographs inhabits disparate hints of her life while  she is sharing her fragmented personal memories. “Nigar” refrains  from any immersive storytelling as Muratoglu perceptibly had no  intention to build any intimacy with the subject. Yet, the sincere  memories build fascinating links to unofficial and untold history of  the 20th century.
